This week's Seattle Weekly slideshow is of Phinney Ridge, the long thin snake of a neighborhood that runs from N. 50th in the south to N. 80th in the north along Phinney & Greenwood Aves.
On the south end there is a Proposed Land Use Action to demolish the current building on the corner of 61st & Phinney and replace it with (what else but) condos & street retail. The effected businesses (Roosters, Daily Planet Antiques, Chef Liao and Phinney Ridge Cleaners) are protesting.

Mmmooo i mean Mmmae's.

Rudy's across the street. I've forgiven them for the damage done to my cabeza 9 years ago.

These ladies came all the way from Whidbey Island just to see what all the fuss was about Red Mill Burgers. I recommended the Verde Chicken burger with onion rings, chocolate shake and a root beer (burp).

I'd keep off the grass if I were you

My new favorite bar, the Fiddler's Inn. Shortly after this photo I put down my camera and picked up a pint.

Hung around Georgetown early Saturday morning for Seattle Weekly's Seattle Peeps. This is what I saw.

I stopped by the Tet Festival - an annual festival to celebrate the Vietnamese Lunar New Year - at Seattle Center this weekend. More images on the Seattle Weekly's website.

I headed down to Westlake yesterday morning to cover the 3rd Annual MLK Day Parade for Seattle Weekly's people slideshow. Most of the talent didn't show so hundreds of people stood around to watch the three that did; the Zionettes (maroon jumpsuits), the Ballard Eagles Drill Team (hats & pom pom socks) and the Baby Dangeretts (white T's and gray sweats). At 11am a woman walked up and announced that she didn't want to waste anyone's time, including her own, and that the parade was canceled. The whole thing was just odd because people still had to walk down to Seattle Center for the rest of the day's activities. Now they had to make the walk by themselves.

Shot the January 10th Ballard Art Walk for the Seattle People slideshow this week. Winter art walks tend to be a little thinner on the turnout due to the cold and most businesses on Ballard Ave were closed but that didn't stop the art walk faithful. Full slideshow on the Seattle Weekly's website.

I managed to get a flight back to Seattle on Friday and have been catching up since. Lots of goodies coming for the blog faithful.
I photographed Car Mechanics for Seattle People last week, visiting Seattle Honda downtown, Tomoko Auto Care on Capitol Hill, Seattle Wheel Service on Leary and the Firestone in South Lake Union. As you can imagine, they've been busy dealing with the fallout from the crazy weather we've had. Sampling below. Full slideshow can be viewed on the Seattle Weekly website here.
Geoff from Seattle Wheel Service.

JC at Seattle Honda:

Luis in my car (I bought my 2005 Element here) with Simone. Luka had just ran up to give him a slobbery kiss in the ear. What a trooper.

Candi at Firestone.

Tony Tomoko from Tomoko Auto Care Center. This guy is a sweetheart. He said he's been so busy because of the weather that he's working 7 days a week. He left work at 11:45pm on New Years, thinking he'd make it home at the stroke of midnight but got caught in a traffic jam which held him back over an hour.

Working on a Skylark that broke down New Years Day.

I had to share what Aviva from the Adventure School cooked up for her first meal of the year. She and Cori remind me of those kids on the Odyssey of the Mind team in elementary school . If you want to throw an unforgettable party, hire the Adventure School to plan your next event.

Some folks downtown were kind enough to share their New Years resolutions with me as part of an online photo slideshow for seattleweekly.com. I picked up a dry erase board from Office Max and hit the streets. These are some of my favorites.

She was visiting from New Zealand:

Get Ahmed!

Is this lady trying to tell me something?

I woke up this morning after an evening dump (not that kind) and see this guy walking through the snow without a jacket and eating take-out with chopsticks.

Sorry dad, we forgot to take these inside.

I shot our city's addicts for the Seattle Weekly's online slideshow of people around town. Full set posted on their site. Here's a sampling of what I found Saturday morning:

The Seattle Weekly has posted a slideshow quiz with my images of AC/DC and Metallica fans. Can you tell the difference between an AC/DC and a Metallica fan? Check your answers here.
The Seattle Weekly hired me for their "Seattle People" online slideshow this week. Basically, I just photograph random people around town. Kinda like what I did with the Club D, but without being strapped to a particular date, place or time (although I will be doing themes if this continues, to make it more interesting) I found these two lovelies, Andrea and Beth, at the Gainsbourg opening.
