Jilli & John

Jilli & John were married at the Tucker House Inn Bed & Breakfast up in Friday Harbor. It's a homey little venue with a family feel to it. There are multiple buildings connected via backyards and a terrace area. Just a beautiful backdrop (inside & out) for a wedding.

Club Directory: Jai Thai

It's Thursday, and that means Club Directory time. This week it's Jai Thai on Broadway where I had a a few drinks with some lady photog friends. I was waiting on a Basil Hayden Mint Julep at the bar and this lady gave me the eye.

UPDATE: What a goober. Today is Wednesday. Oh well - I'm taking tomorrow off!

laff loud

Kimya Dawson was hilarious on Saturday, telling stories of how the last time she was scheduled to play the Capitol Hill Block Party it was around her due date and she had an elaborate plan to break her water onstage in the summer heat to cool off the audience. She ended up going into labor before the block party and jokingly cursed her kid for foiling it all. Even I wasn't immune to being called out. The stage was pretty high, forcing us smaller photogs (hey, hey, Renee!) in the pit to almost have to point our lenses to the sky to get a shot. Kimya told the crowd I was trying to photograph up her skirt and called me a "dirty b*tch". Ha! Luckily my lens was on her face and NOT her crotch (promise!) and caught her reaction instead. You have to love a lady that has "laff" & "loud" tatood on her fingers.

Dangling there, golden and fair in the sky

The Fleet Foxes remind me of driving around New Paltz listening to the the first Crosby Stills and Nash album on tape until it it spittled on itself. I almost spittled on myself shooting them this past Saturday at the Capitol Hill Block Party, they were so good.

Set your DVR to CBS at 11:30 on August 4th. They're playing Letterman!

Capitol Hill Block Party

I'll be at the Capitol Hill Block Party tomorrow shooting for The Stranger. If you see me running around draped in cameras, please say hello.

Club Directory: Shark Club

These two were celebrating the girl's 21st birthday at The Shark Club in Kirkland. I hope they survived the rest of the evening.

Baby Keane

I had the privilege of photographing little baby Keane in the hospital just hours after being born. What a treat!! He was so tiny and sleepy and soft. We have a family shoot scheduled for the beginning of August with his sister Nora, who is on the front page of photojj.com laughing up a storm. Good picture taking is in his genes!

Tomato Tomato Custom Greetings & Design

Kelly of Tomato Tomato has posted some images from Natalie & Jake's wedding on her blog. Mainly of the rad programs and cake decoration she made for them. The lady has talent and I've heard nothing but great things about her from Natalie and Jake. If you're looking for individualized attention and someone that is open to collaboration, you should check her out.

Liz & Tom

Liz & Tom are engageed but not for long... they're getting married tomorrow! The session was a bit last minute since they live on the east coast and are only in Seattle for a short while. We shot in Discovery Park and Liz's mom Peggy drove us around so we could hit the best spots during the golden hours without having to get sweaty trekking around on foot (thanks Peggy!). Have you seen how huge that place is? There are some great images of them with sailboats and sunshine that haven't been worked up yet (we did these in a rush to pump out before the wedding) so I suspect there will be a engagement session 2.0 post in the future.

Club Directory: Toi

Ran into Toi last Friday and had drinks with some nice ladies getting off from a day of school at the Gene Juarez Advanced Academy. They introduced me this drink they're holding called The Golden Pear. It's made with Absolut Pear vodka, Asian pear juice and a slice of juicy pear inside, skewered for easy eating. YUM.
You can find these Club Directory photos published each week in The Stranger.

Shana and Alex

I met Alex about eight years ago while shooting a show in town. He is as sweet as they come. Known for his B&W rock photography, I found myself bumping into him often, exchanging smiles while crossing house right to house left at the Showbox, the Croc, or more recently down in Portland for the last Sleater-Kinney show. I got so excited when he told me he was engaged and just about speechless when they chose me to photograph the wedding. Shana is a straight shooting, down to earth, Jet City Rollergirl with red hair. She and Alex initially bonded over their shared love of music, and soon she was the recipient of Alex's music library via mix cd's and loaned albums. Once you start sharing your music collection and making mixes, co-habitation is not far behind! They were married this past May at the Golden Gardens Bathhouse.

fresburg

Just returned from a quick weekend trip to Fresno, CA, where I learned my mother is guest starring in a local retirement community's commercial (!!) and spent some time feeding, burping, cuddling and cooing my best friend's one month old. Photos will come, but probably next week. So many weddings and engagements on the plate right now!

New Addition

The Studerus family had a little delivery about 8 months ago and recently invited me over to photograph their new family. You met their sweet dog, Rigger, on Monday. Now meet their newest addition, Jillian:
