One door closes. Another opens

The Seattle Weekly hired me for their "Seattle People" online slideshow this week.   Basically, I just photograph random people around town.  Kinda like what I did with the Club D, but without being strapped to a particular date, place or time (although I will be doing themes if this continues, to make it more interesting)   I found these two lovelies, Andrea and Beth, at the Gainsbourg opening.

Gainsbourg in Daily Candy

Daily Candy Seattle did a piece on Gainsbourg today, using a photo from our shoot.

Jamie & Jeremy

I did a portrait session with Jamie & Jeremy Joseph this weekend.  Together they design and create incredible jewelry pieces using precious stones and metals.   Jamie is the designger, Jeremy is the cutter (Jeremy has his own line coming soon. More on that later).  Essenza in Fremont carries some of the line, or you can drool over their website like I've been doing all week.

Frank & George

Frank & George joined me for a portrait session gifted by Catherine (the sweetest real estate agent in Seattle).  Their blue eyes and rosy cheeks made my job easy like Sunday morning.

adopt me

Just a quick note to say Simone's brother is still available for adoption at Manorlake.  He's 4 months old, already potty trained and knows basic commands.   I met him a couple months back and he was a sweetheart.  I'm hoping he stays in the area so we can reunite him for playtimes with Simone (we should all be able to see family over the holidays, no?).  More info here.

Gainsbourg opens TONIGHT!

My good friends Hannah (KEXP, Seattle Weekly) and JJ have teamed up with Scott Kannberg (Pavement, Preston School of Industry) to open a new french inspired bar in Greenwood called Gainsbourg (yes, as in Serge).  They open to the public tonight, so come by and say hey. With these three at the helm it's bound to pull in a good music lovin crowd.

I took some quick pics of the crew a couple weeks back.  The big three:

Bartenders Clarita & Matt:

up & coming

Two quick teasers for Maya & Troy, who's wedding will be appearing veddy soon.

RIP Club D

I just got news that yesterday's Club Directory will be the last for a while due to our less than fruitful economy.  It's been a fun ride.

Club Directory: King's Hardware

I found out last night that Ommegang's Chocolate Indulgence is not so good for me.

Yancey Family Portraits

I spent a gorgeous fall morning with the Yancey family awhile back.  Their friends gifted them a portrait session and I'm honored they chose me for it.

Baby Ayelet and her new tooth.

After 2 quick setups at the house, we headed to Dahl Playfield in Ravenna for some fun.  The two oldest girls had great energy.  We jumped, swang on monkey bars and spun around so many times on the carousel that this old lady (me) almost tossed her cookies.

Frank & George - teaser

Quick teaser from my shoot with Frank & George yesterday.  So cute!

I've been giving mini photography lessons during the kids shoots lately to keep them interested.  Here's Frank having a peek.

Club Directory: Baranoff in Greenwood

Tha Baranoff is tied with the Ballard Smoke shop for my favorite dive bar in Seattle.  The bartenders and patrons never change and they aren't afraid to tell you what they really think.

This guy got a little frisky on me.

Here's CJ, who doesn't have email but promises her man friend will contact me to get a copy of this.  CJ is sweetheart, and a good sport for letting some strange woman with a camera wearing a "show me your riffs" Sleater-Kinney shirt take her picture (In exchange, I gave her veto power.  This was her fave).

Sara & Matt's Naragansett Bay Wedding

Sara & Matt were married on Naragansett Bay in Rhode Island during Hurricane Hanna.  I silently hummed the Scorpions  while mounting two flashes in the corners of the dance floor, crossing my fingers they wouldn't be battered by the wind (Apparently I needed to do more than that. I found them on the ground multiple times, despite 25lb sandbags and a ridiculous amount of gaffers tape). The day started out innocently though, with the eye of the storm keeping us half dry for the ceremony, cocktail hour and through the start of their clambake dinner.  By the time the wind and rain resumed we were dancing too hard to care.  These are my kind of people.

Both Sara & Matt had their wedding attire custom made for them, with Sara in an incredible tea stained Mary Adams creation and Matt in a dapper Addison & Steele suit with purple lining.

With friends Hannah and Leslie before the ceremony.

The lady responsible for bringing all of us together, Jess from Fig and Plum, with her man Chris.  They have the adorable expressions down pat.

Friends having fun with the bouquet...

Leslie!

Coffee awaits in the dinner tent.

They donated to Save the Bay in lieu of favors.

Embarrassing toasts are the best

Best name ever.

The bouquet eating man moves onto lobster.

I need a fitting caption for this one.  Any takers?

the dancing begins!

and to prove this was really happening during a hurricane:

It was hard to tell what was wet and what was sweat.

Congratulations to Sara & Matt, whose wedding I will not soon forget.  I felt so at home with their families and friends.   Perhaps we can do it all over again next year?  Please?
